New Year's Eve Sweat Lodge 2023

The sweat lodge

is a space of opportunity to reconnect with yourself, with the abundance of Mother Earth, the wisdom of stones, the knowledge of water, the transforming power of fire, the source of air. Its tradition goes back to the Paleolithic period (600,000 years ago), and so we can use ancient experience and the benevolent support of the great forces within it.

A network of willow or hazelnut poles forms the framework of the sweat lodge, on which blankets are placed. In the middle of the room that has now been created there is a hollow into which the fireman places the stones that have been heated in the fire outside the hut. Water (of the highest quality) is poured over the glowing stones, as are herbs that support the corresponding processes.

The benevolent forces are invited to support you; there is singing, giving thanks, drumming, toning, rattling, listening to various sounds and also to the silence. During a hut round, you will receive inspiration from the hut leader, which can support you in your very personal orientation in the sweat lodge. In this way, issues that you have brought with you or that are emerging can be brought into motion and answers can be found.

Everything seems like a return to the belly of Mother Earth, a return to security, abundance and devotion.

And yes, of course you will sweat, but unlike in a conventional sauna, this is a side effect.

Before and after the sweat lodge there is space to exchange ideas about the topics that were or will be discussed in the lodge.

Important information:

For thousands of years, the sweat lodge has been a place of connection with the elements and oneself, of deep cleansing on a physical, mental and emotional level, a place to let go of what is no longer needed and to invite in what is new. A sweat lodge is not a sauna, it is a ritual, even if our shelter is free from a particular culture. We enter the lodge lightly dressed. You are invited to enter this special room in a festive manner.

Bring with you:

Sweat dress or shorts or sarong, two towels, at least 1 bottle of water, drums or rattles if available and a gift for the communal meal after the ritual. In the tradition, the fireman also receives appreciation

(e.g. tobacco, money, a small gift) Please bring something for him too.

And of course you need to be willing to open up and get involved in our joint activities.

Menstruation & Pregnancy

Women who menstruate should take very good care of themselves. Menstruation itself is a deep cleansing. Every woman reacts in a unique way and only she has access to what she can and wants to do. It is not advisable to go beyond your own limits. Since there are ways and means of taking good care of yourself, I ask menstruating women to talk to me so that I can better support them. If you are pregnant, participation is not recommended until the end of the 12th week of pregnancy.

Health

Please inform us if you have any health problems. Participation in a sweat lodge is not recommended if you have heart problems, high blood pressure or serious psychological/psychiatric issues.

Eating before the ritual

It is recommended not to eat a heavy meal before the ritual. Afterwards we will have a festive meal together. 😊
